Gillett: “We have invested more money than our competitors, in keeping with the history of the club”

Hicks: “Our debt is very managable…. and we never use player sales for debt service. The summer window will be big.”

Tom Hicks (27 May 2010): “We have no intention of selling any of our top players and we have a substantial transfer budget in place. There’s so much misinformation about transfer spending. It’s more than doubled under the ownership of George and myself from the previous three years and we will make a significant investment this summer. It’s really about getting the right players.”

Martin Broughton (16 July 2010): “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, we have no need to sell any players to pay off the debt. If we were to sell anyone, then the money would be reinvested in the squad.”
